Arkansas

Art in Motion

*A Statewide Art & PE Fundraiser

Overview

SHAPE Arkansas (Society of Health and Physical Educators) proudly hosts Arkansas Art in Motion, a statewide fundraiser that engages school art programs across Arkansas to create Physical Education-inspired artwork. This initiative connects movement and creativity, raising funds to support both arts and PE programs in participating schools.

As the official host, SHAPE Arkansas will be responsible for auctioning all student artwork at its Summer and Fall Conferences, where educators, administrators, and health professionals will bid on the pieces. In addition to fundraising, outstanding student artists will be recognized with awards at both the state and sponsor levels.

Goals

  1. Support School Arts & PE Programs – Raise funds to enhance materials, equipment, and student opportunities.

  2. Promote Healthy Living Through Art – Encourage students to explore themes of movement, sports, and wellness.

  3. Showcase Student Talent – Provide a platform for student artists to gain recognition statewide.

  4. Engage Educators & Community Partners – Leverage SHAPE Arkansas’s network to maximize impact and fundraising potential.

  5. Recognize Student Excellence – Award the most outstanding student artworks at regional and state levels.

How It Works

School Participation & Art Creation

  • Schools receive a PE-themed art brief, inspiring students to create artwork celebrating sports, movement, dance, exercise, and physical wellness.

  • Students can work in any artistic medium (paintings, sculptures, digital art, textiles, etc.).

  • Collaboration between art and PE teachers is encouraged.

SHAPE Arkansas Art Auctions

  • SHAPE Arkansas will auction all submitted student artwork at its Summer and Fall Conferences, attended by educators, administrators, and health professionals.

  • 50% of proceeds from the auctions will go directly back to participating school art programs.

  • This allows PE professionals and school decision-makers to invest in student creativity while supporting movement-focused education.

Student Art Awards & Recognition

SHAPE Arkansas will recognize the most outstanding student artworks with awards and special recognition:

  • Most Outstanding Pieces – Selected at both the Summer and Fall Conferences.

  • Overall State Winners – Chosen from the top submissions across all participating schools.

  • Sponsor’s Choice Awards – Businesses and corporate sponsors will have the opportunity to select and award outstanding pieces that align with their vision and values.

  • Winning artists and their schools will receive special recognition, and selected students may be invited to showcase their work at additional public events.

Statewide Fundraiser & Merchandise Sales

  • Select student works may also be featured in a major statewide auction, expanding fundraising efforts.

  • Student artwork can be printed on merchandise (t-shirts, water bottles, posters, etc.) and sold year-round, with proceeds benefiting participating schools.

Corporate & Local Business Sponsorships

  • Businesses can sponsor awards, auctions, purchase artwork, or donate directly to support Arkansas schools.

  • Sponsors can display purchased artwork in offices, gyms, hospitals, and community spaces, promoting youth creativity and wellness.
